HAITIAN RELIEF
It is beautiful to encounter so many of our people who have sent donations directly to Catholic Relief Services to help the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
When you see the news reports each day of the misery our brothers and sisters are enduring, pray for those families. Thank God for the well being of your own family and rest assured that God blesses you for your continued generosity to the least of His brothers and sisters.
To donate, please call 1-877-HELP-CRS or text "RELIEF" to 30644. You can also donate online at www.crs.org or send a check to Catholic Relief Services, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090. In the memo portion of your check, please write: Haiti Earthquake. For more information, please visit http://www.crs.org or http://www.crsespanol.org

SILENTLY ADORE GOD AND REJOICE

Born to herders in Darfur, Sudan around 1871. Barely seven years old, Bakhita was kidnapped by Arab slave raiders and buried for several days in a coffin like cell. She was sold, to an Arab chieftain and later to a Turkish military officer who had her branded with 114 razor-cut scars.
She was resold to the Italian vice counsel, who lived in Khartoum. The family returned to Italy in 1885. There Bakhita, whose name means “Fortunate One,” eventually gained her freedom and was given an education by a nun during the time she spent waiting to pick the family’s children up after school. When the family returned to Africa, Bakhita did not.

THANK YOU The pastor of the parish where we sent the Giving Tree Christmas gifts sent a Thank You note to us. “Ham, bread, rice, and pasta were distributed to our poor families.” We also received a package with thank you notes from many of the people who were helped by our love and sacrifice.
Our generosity and sacrifices enabled brothers and sisters suffering from the effects of the typhoon to enjoy the gift of life. People are alive today because they were able to eat and avoided starving. While they may not have had meals even close to what we enjoyed at Christmas, our loving self-denial offerings have given the gift of life to many.
What a beautiful gift the Catholic Community in Rahway gave to Jesus on His birthday.
THANK YOU!
YOUR PARISH NEEDS YOU!!!
Thank you
Father Dennis would like to thank those who have stepped forward to volunteer to help with the clerical and maintenance needs of both parishes. He is very impressed with the response he has received. If you are interested in volunteering, these are some of the areas that will need to be taken care of: the Church Interior, Church Office, Church Property and Rectory. If you can help, please let us know. You can reach Fr. Dennis via e-mail at: frdenniskaelin@yahoo.com.
Once again thank you.

St. Mary’s Church Choir is open to new members (men, women, teenagers) who would like to join the choir in singing at the weekly Sunday 11:00 am liturgy and especially at the Holy Week and Easter Sunday Liturgies. Singing in a choir is “FUN” and is another way “to pray.” We practice on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the church. See Janice after a Sunday liturgy or leave your name and phone number at 732-388-0082. Janice Fech
THE ROSARY is prayed before the 6:15 Mass on Saturday evenings (at approximately 6 PM), at St. Mark's Church, and we have continued this beautiful devotion for the past 10 years. We are now in need of additional leaders. Please contact Marilyn at 908-925-6988 if you would be able to be of assistance approximately once every two months.
Please return your baby bottles during the week of February 21, 2010.

ST. MARY'S & ST. MARK'S PARISH DEVELOPMENT UPDATE & FINANCIAL REPORT
January 28, 2010
Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas
Dear members of St. Mary’s and St. Mark’s Parish,
From all the financial reports, it is obvious that we are moving in the right direction. St. Mary’s is well on the road to recovery. It will take some time, but the journey has begun.
We had a delayed start at St. Mark’s because of the difficulty in obtaining reliable financial records to correct much of the misinformation that some people had been circulating. Once reliable facts became available, dedicated parishioners stepped up to put us on the road to recovery.

It is very helpful.
Thank you and God Bless.
"As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth, he said, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." - Luke 21:1-4
"Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father's house, the the Lord will be my God and the stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.""-Gen 28:20-22
How should I give?
"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." - 2 Corinthians 9:7-8
Keep in mind that if you are in need of an event location (for a birthday party, anniversary, graduation, Baptism, special celebration), consider renting our church hall. Please contact Fr. Robert for the details.
